Designed specifically for campers who will be entering Algebra 1 in the fall, Algebra Appetizers helps campers learn the fundamental concepts of algebra and become familiar with its language through activities, games, and explorations guided by the teacher. Campers learn the principles for solving equations. For linear and more advanced equations, campers learn to match symbolic representations with their graphic equivalents. Individually, campers prepare for algebra by refreshing, sharpening, and extending their base of math skills using our proprietary MathTree® skill system. Basic skills include ratio, proportion, decimals, fractions, percents, integers, and factoring. Some campers advance to exponents, order of operations, integers, radicals, absolute value, and complex fractions.

Kudos for MathTree
As a teacher there is nothing more exciting than to witness your students’ confidence, enthusiasm, and motivation for math rise well beyond your expectations. I see that every semester I’ve taught MathTree. Students who have participated in MathTree have a stronger and deeper foundation of numbers and mathematical concepts which sets them up for success in the classroom. Students love the games and they see how fun math can be. Many parents have commented on their child’s difference in attitude towards math and the knowledge their child has gained after being part of the MathTree group. It’s fun to teach such a hands on math program and see that light come on for all students.
